Charlotte Amalie High School is the oldest public high school in the U.S. Virgin Islands, located on the beautiful island of St. Thomas. CAHS was organized as a junior high school in 1920. In 1930, it added the first twelfth grade and four students graduated in the class of 1931. Commandant Gade School and the present Senate Building were places used by CAHS until the school opened at the present site in 1955. Most of our leaders in all areas of government, healthcare, education, business and commerce are proud alumni of CAHS.

Congratulations to Krythemer Edmeade, the school's nominee
for the Martin Luther King, Jr. Award. She was recognized on Friday evening, 1/15/2010 by the Hebrew
Congregation of St. Thomas for her leadership and service to her school, church
and community. Held every year, the Rosh
Hodesh service commemorates the life of Dr. King and honors seven exceptional
students, one from each high school on St.
Thomas, whose good works in the community embody the
ideals and values espoused by the slain civil rights leader.
